In this section you can enter the different feeds and supplements you use in your feed room. This is effectively your 'stock' of feeds which you can allocate when you set up a meal for a horse.
You can add a feed by tapping on the '+' at the top right of the screen. To edit a feed you have already entered, tap on the arrow on the right of the icon in the list. Both actions will take you to the same screen.
You can enter (or edit) the name of the feed and optionally the name of your supplier and a preparation note.
You should think of the feed name you enter more as a description for someone preparing the feeds rather than just as a literal manufacturer's name.
IMPORTANT! Some feeds have to be specially prepared or soaked. When composing feed lists for a horse, it is important that any feeds are clearly labelled with preparation instructions outside this application. When entering a feed name you should also perhaps use explicit names such as "SOAKED Sugar Beet".
This app purely re-presents the data you enter. It is up to you to put in the systems to make feeding safe.
Although you can enter preparation notes in the app, they are purely there for your quick reference and are NOT displayed on the feed table or feed list.
You can also enter an abbreviated name. If you choose to enter one, the shorter name will be printed on a feed table or list. This is because there is limited room on a printed sheet so it allows you to print a more compact abbreviation rather than the full name for the feed. Enter an abbreviation which cannot be confused with another feed.
Next to the field where you enter the supplier, you will see an address book icon. To make entering a feed supplier easier, you can enter one or more Feed Suppliers as a 'Preferred Contact'. (Go to Settings->Contacts in the web app). You can enter a supplier by selecting one from the list presented by clicking on the icon, or if you don't want to use this feature just type the name in.
There is a Re-order switch which can be set. If this is set, a reminder badge will be displayed on the feed icon on the home screen. To edit feeds you need Feed Edit rights, but anyone can flag a feed for re-ordering.
These are the common feed types used in the equestrian feeds industry. We have also included a couple of general groups in this area such as Supplements and Medication. You can allocate an item to a Feed Group when you add it to your feed room. You can then use the Group selector at the top of the Feedroom screen to filter the list of feeds accordingly. If you use this feature, Feed Charts will also be displayed in group order with a sub heading. (N.B. If you use the web app you can switch on or off the headings when you generate a chart).
To display the Feed Groups in a different order within charts, click on the icon next to the Feed Group selector. Drag and drop the groups into the order you prefer. Don't forget to save the new order.
To display the feeds in a different order within a Feed Group (including in feed tables and lists), tap on the bars icon (bottom left) then drag and drop the items via the handle to the far right of the feed name. Once re-ordered, tap the tick to save, or the x to cancel.
